[Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It is a time of generosity, and so Vietnam would like to share some food that one can share with family and friends. A package containing some bánh quy bơ quế (butter cookies with Vietnamese cinnamon MMMM), and an assortment of mứt (candied fruit preserves) for the New Year.
He also looks like a really stylish guy! Which means she got him this watch (it's probably not as expensive as a Tag is in this century, god). Also a card is included:]
Mitsutada,
Chúc Mừng Giáng Sinh! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
May your new year be prosperous and successful. I am looking forward to working with you!
...No, he couldn't say it through this thing. Both of them are not the type to settle things like that. He quickly erase that sentence before he is able to send them and instead, he writes another one: ]
[ It's very easy to tell for Ookurikara that Mitsutada's probably mentally shaken, because he is (and let's be real, probably everyone as well) still not at his best himself. Still, 'see you there'... Huh? He makes a barely visible smile as he read the text that he just got. Maybe this would not go as awkward as he thought it would be. Hopefully.
As he puts his communication device back, Ookurikara is going to walk-slash-limp back to their apartment first. He goes pretty slowly, considering the wound that he got from fighting the infinite numbers of beasts aren't totally gone yet. However, Ookurikara was the one who invited him after all, so he needs to be there first.
Should Mitsutada reach their apartment, Ookurikara is going to be there already, chilling on the dining table with a hot tea in front of him. Just across his seat, another one full tea is ready just in case his best friend need something to quench his thirst. ]
[ letters, letters everywhere. except at some point, while the rest of masamune's "wonderful" fan-letters had been correctly addressed, there's one that ends up in his hands by accident. they look a bit alike, after all, but masamune hadn't found out about the mix-up until he opened it up and read the following--
MELONSLASHER ❤ MITSUTADA
MY HEART ACHES FOR YOU YOUR MYSTERIOUS KINDNESS PLEASE SHOW ME YOUR FORM
...... raised eyebrow. this is the reason for the ringing of mitsutada's phone as masamune figures things out. both in the... who-this-is-actually-addressed-to department and the how-the-hell-do-i-call-people department. ]
Yo, Melonslasher Mitsutada. [ is what mitsutada will hear when he picks up, a very clear amusement in the other man's tone. really. ] Think something of yours ended up in my hands instead.
The engrish Masamune is now officially better than the other one for Ookurikara, just because he's embracing the Tale of the Melonslasher™. 10/10, Master. Well played. ]
[ He's pleasantly surprised when the caller ID displays Masamune's name. However, he isn't quite sure which Masamune it is, so he picks it up and answers with less enthusiasm that he otherwise would - professionalism is important.
But what composure he tried to cultivate is soon thrown out of the window when he other actually speaks. ]
Melonslasher?
[ WHY IS THIS HAPPENING. ]
You want to rename me, master?
[ He seems to have missed the point of the supposedly wrongly delivered item. ]
there's still a hint of amusement when he speaks, an immediate: ]
Nah. Shokudaikiri's yours.
[ that's a certainty. there's the sound of paper rustling in the background, as masamune tucks the letter away. he'd read it accidentally, but no need to reread it now that he knows it's not his. ]
That seems to be on someone else's mind, though. Got a letter addressed to you with that, along with-- [ .... ] --some other words.
[ which make less sense than "YOUR LAST NAME IS DATE, SO WE SHOULD GO ON A DATE", but that's not truly his main concern right now, because: ]
[Natalia has met one (1) of the two Masamunes and honestly? Honestly.
How many people are there here with eye patches over their right eye with names that she can't hope to pronounce and have the middle-length hair and the overwhelming amount of confidence?
Natalia's just curious, okay.
She can't even entirely remember the name of Mitsutada's master -- he said it once and it was just as foreign as it was repeated to her the second time when she met Basaramune -- but she has a feeling that she's getting closer to her answers now.]
Mitsu, I hope this message finds you in good health.
[natalia this is a fucking text not a letter]
I made an acquaintance the other day and I couldn't help but wonder: Might the title of Cyclops Dragon mean anything to you?
[It all starts when Vietnam vaguely heard Mitsutada be called "Melonslasher" in passing. Apparently it's a popular nickname, or at least, it's becoming one? Does he like it? She's not even sure.
As soon as Mitsutada turns into the kitchen though, she immediately starts texting Ookurikara a message.]
Hello, I know you are just across the room, but...
Why "Melonslasher"?
[In her urgency to message him and double checking to see if Mitsutada wanders out into the main shop front, her mind being in two places at once merged the two together and she picked Mitsutada's name instead. What a careless misfire. And she's like a foot away from him. This is bleak.]
[After she managed to raid a weapon store, she returns to work and looks for Mitsutada. And well, there he is.]
I have something for you.
[She got him an assault rifle. Although she's still wondering if she should've went with a cool looking pistal, but yolo. He needs something that isn't for close quarters!]
[This entire idea was just a whim, through observation. Mitsutada showed great curiosity when it comes to human things, even human customs. Many of the other swords do so too, so when Valentine's Day came around, you can be sure to notice that a few of them embraced it. Even Kousetsu ended up on a blind date! (She heard it went pretty well.) But then here is Mitsutada, a very sociable sword, and still haven't yet experienced what it is like to be on a Valentine's Day date. Granted, she might not be the best one to take him out, but at least she could give him a "tour" of how such dates usually go.
Besides, it is one way to lift his moods up after what happened underground. Having heard the stories about their lives, Vietnam isn't surprised by Mitsutada's darker life and self. But it seems to be something he's trying to grow out of, and for it to be a reminder...
Perhaps after everything has happened, a nice outing will do him good.
And this is why she is here, standing by a fancy looking lamppost, dressed in the first thing she grabbed from her wardrobe that looked half decent (thanks Taiwan, for the constant shopping sprees before she went back) and is shifting uncomfortably on the spot when others walk past her on this day. Now it's becoming all too real: since Valentine's Day was glitching up, seems like people like to do things right after. They're going to do it.
She should've picked the next day.]

[ It's perhaps lucky for both of them that Mitsutada is quite oblivious to whatever implications that their outing would have. Even if he doesn't say it out loud, he agrees with her - something relaxing and simple and decidedly safe would do all of them an ounce of good. After all the tense and adrenaline-filled (in the bad way) events that had erupted over the past few weeks, even a seasoned team mom like him needed a break.
He isn't early like Vietnam is, but he's exactly on time - dressed in a sweatervest combo instead of his usual suit. It's a lot more casual, which is totally the point of this meeting.
They need to relax or their nerves could very well snap soon.
When he catches sight of her, he gives her a friendly wave and picks up his pace. ]
Afternoon. Nothing strange's happened, I hope?
[ Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if something had. ]
