[...oh...well now she's actually touched by this. More so than he thinks because she finds it difficult to make friends when she's both shy and rather stern looking.]
Really? I'm thankful for your opinion. It is an honour to be held in such high regard, that I am able to provide you with conversation. I find you easy to talk to, it makes comfortable. [More so than his looks too.]
But I should be thanking you. That you, someone confident and charming, would want to even, ah, hang out with me.
[Look, she has to be honest, even though Midare warned her about giving Mitsutada too many compliments. IT'S FUCKING HARD OKAY.]
[Maybe it doesn't seem excessive because half her compliments get held back since she's a borderline tsundere. But she could keep feeding his ego if he keeps doing this!!! UGH. Not that she knows his ego isn't as big as everyone claims it is either. He's cool to her...
She flushes again when he says this so calmly, just flicking his hair away. Here she's twisting the ends of her ponytail.]
I...I believe you might be the only one who thinks that.
[After she managed to raid a weapon store, she returns to work and looks for Mitsutada. And well, there he is.]
I have something for you.
[She got him an assault rifle. Although she's still wondering if she should've went with a cool looking pistal, but yolo. He needs something that isn't for close quarters!]
[This entire idea was just a whim, through observation. Mitsutada showed great curiosity when it comes to human things, even human customs. Many of the other swords do so too, so when Valentine's Day came around, you can be sure to notice that a few of them embraced it. Even Kousetsu ended up on a blind date! (She heard it went pretty well.) But then here is Mitsutada, a very sociable sword, and still haven't yet experienced what it is like to be on a Valentine's Day date. Granted, she might not be the best one to take him out, but at least she could give him a "tour" of how such dates usually go.
Besides, it is one way to lift his moods up after what happened underground. Having heard the stories about their lives, Vietnam isn't surprised by Mitsutada's darker life and self. But it seems to be something he's trying to grow out of, and for it to be a reminder...
Perhaps after everything has happened, a nice outing will do him good.
And this is why she is here, standing by a fancy looking lamppost, dressed in the first thing she grabbed from her wardrobe that looked half decent (thanks Taiwan, for the constant shopping sprees before she went back) and is shifting uncomfortably on the spot when others walk past her on this day. Now it's becoming all too real: since Valentine's Day was glitching up, seems like people like to do things right after. They're going to do it.
She should've picked the next day.]

[ It's perhaps lucky for both of them that Mitsutada is quite oblivious to whatever implications that their outing would have. Even if he doesn't say it out loud, he agrees with her - something relaxing and simple and decidedly safe would do all of them an ounce of good. After all the tense and adrenaline-filled (in the bad way) events that had erupted over the past few weeks, even a seasoned team mom like him needed a break.
He isn't early like Vietnam is, but he's exactly on time - dressed in a sweatervest combo instead of his usual suit. It's a lot more casual, which is totally the point of this meeting.
They need to relax or their nerves could very well snap soon.
When he catches sight of her, he gives her a friendly wave and picks up his pace. ]
Afternoon. Nothing strange's happened, I hope?
[ Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised if something had. ]
[Bless him for being oblivious, because if he's oblivious, then she would be able to hide all her reactions from such implications. Besides, she has (half) a plan on what to do, and hopefully it's things he would like to do. Safe, simple, enjoyable. That really sounds exactly like a date. Fuck.
When she hears his voice, she raises her hand to wave back, faltering only because she catches how he looks; dressed down, looking really casual even with his usual class. It's actually humbling to see him like this, and everything suits him (but she always figured he'd look good in anything. Wait why is she thinking about this). Which is probably why she mutters--] Ah...you look nice. [Because she was caught by surprise.
HOLD UP. She quickly clears her throat.]
Good afternoon, Mitsutada. [Got it together. Good job, girl.] Nothing at all. It seems like for most of us, we are allowed some reprieve. Has all been well for you?

[ Is that an opening compliment? You flatter him a lot, Vietnam.
Nevertheless, he takes it with a slight wink of his solitary eye. ] You're quite pretty today too, you know?
[ why are they flirting already
His expression returns to its usual calm cheer once she answers his question, though. ]
Yeah, same on my end. It's a good thing. [ Finally, not having to run around like headless chickens chasing after (and getting chased by) things. Time for something more worthy of life, honestly. ]
What's the plan? Do you already have somewhere in mind?
[She only flatters him because she's stating the truth! It's not like she's doing it for him.
A-ah, he winked as he complimented her. She can already feel her face burning up and this entire trip hasn't started even yet.] N-no, I mean thank you, it is just something I bought with Taiwan a while ago. You are too kind. [Maybe she should've worked harder.
Still, she manages a smile when he speaks of how he is well. It is relieving to hear, especially with how he has to help manage the swordhaus now.] I am happy that you are well. I hope I'm not overworking you either. [What if he gets too tired!
BUT RIGHT. PLAN.] A-ah! Yes, I want to take you somewhere. I'm not sure if you have been to a jazz lounge before? If it is not somewhere you are interested in, we can go elsewhere. Very flexible day, we are just going to go to places you like.
[ Tell him that and you'll just inflate his ego even more. Keep it up. ]
Hey, you both have good taste. I'm not complaining.
[ Even so, he thinks it's nice of her to wear something her sister chose, especially since said sister has already went home. Maybe it's a good way to keep remembering her, even if the two ladies are separated. ]
Of course not. I'll always have time for you. [ wait ] Spending time with other people is what makes this place bearable, really.
[ When she brings up the jazz lounge, his expression turns thoughtful. ]
I haven't heard of one, actually. Is it a bar or some kind of cafe for those kinds of music?
[ He likes jazz. The swing rhythm always has him tapping to it (much to kuri's chagrin). Maybe he might even pick up the saxophone someday, it has a certain smooth quality to it. ]
